Short answer
If the questura has not answered your permesso request, the usual steps are a written request with your receipt code, a PEC if you have one, a patronato or NGO letter, and then a lawyer. A refusal has a short challenge deadline, so note its date at once and check the notice.
Information, not legal advice. MovItaly is not a law firm. Check with the questura or consulate before you act.
What this does not cover
Asylum procedures, and permits other than the one you filed for.
When to see a lawyer
- Your receipt is about to expire (under 30 days)
- You received a refusal or a preavviso di rigetto
- You must travel and the questura has not answered a PEC or letter
These are general signs that a lawyer can help. They are not advice about your case.
Who is this for
People whose file has no news for a long time, or who received a refusal or a notice of rejection.
Questions people ask
Can I write to the questura myself?
Yes. Send your personal data, the receipt code, the filing date and a polite request for an update, and keep a copy or the PEC receipt.
What is a ricorso contro il silenzio?
A court action at the TAR against the administration's failure to answer. A lawyer files it; it is usually a later step.
