Short answer
How the quota-based employment route works: nulla osta, click day, visa, Sportello Unico and permit.
Information, not legal advice. MovItaly is not a law firm. Check with the questura or consulate before you act.
Who is this for
Non-EU workers who have an Italian employer willing to hire them from abroad within the yearly entry quotas (decreto flussi).
Requirements
- An Italian employer (or its agent) files the request online during the click day windows. The multi-year decree sets see the current official threshold entries over three years (see the current official threshold for 2026). TO VERIFY: quotas per category in the decree text.
- The employer must show it can pay the salary and provide housing, and must first complete the preventive check with the employment centre.
- The worker must be outside Italy and have no entry ban. Some nationalities have reserved quotas.
- You cannot self-apply: only the employer files. Click day dates are in the click-day article (work-w1-click-days-explained-guide).
